New Delhi: On August 1, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu welcomed Prime Minister of Vietnam, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, to Rashtrapati Bhavan in a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between India and Vietnam.
During their meeting, President Murmu emphasized that India-Vietnam relations are deeply rooted in shared cultural and historical connections, characterized by mutual trust and collaboration on international platforms. She highlighted Vietnam’s pivotal role in India’s Act East Policy and its importance to the Indo-Pacific Vision.
The President expressed pleasure at the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation, noting significant progress in areas such as political exchanges, defense partnerships, trade, commerce, investment, development cooperation, cultural relations, and people-to-people contacts.
Both leaders acknowledged their shared Buddhist heritage and civilizational linkages, and they took satisfaction in the ongoing efforts to restore heritage sites in Vietnam. This collaborative work reflects the deep cultural ties between the two nations.
President Murmu expressed confidence that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit would further bolster the India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, underscoring the continued commitment to enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries.
