Faridabad: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the 5th convocation of JC Bose University of Science and Technology in Faridabad today, marking a significant event for the institution and its graduates.
In her address, the President highlighted the importance of adapting to the ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution. She emphasized that India is prepared to face the challenges of this technological era and seize its opportunities. “Institutions like JC Bose University of Science and Technology will play a critical role in achieving this national objective,” she remarked.
President Murmu expressed her satisfaction with the university’s efforts in establishing partnerships with numerous industrial and academic institutions. She also noted the presence of Centers of Excellence set up by multinational companies on campus, aimed at providing students with advanced training. She expressed confidence that these collaborations would lead to positive outcomes for the students and the university.
Discussing the impact of technology, the President pointed out that technological advancements have opened numerous opportunities, including online employment in remote areas. However, she cautioned that technology should be used responsibly, ensuring it benefits sustainable development and public interest. “The misuse of technology could have harmful consequences,” she warned.
The President commended JC Bose University for its efforts in equipping the youth with skills and making them self-reliant. She praised the university’s impressive list of alumni who have made notable contributions in various fields both domestically and internationally. She also encouraged the university to enhance the role of its Alumni Association, making it more effective in fostering growth and development.
President Murmu reflected on the legacy of the university’s namesake, Jagadish Chandra Bose, a pioneering scientist who was among the first to scientifically demonstrate that plants have feelings. His groundbreaking discovery, she noted, transformed our understanding of the botanical world. The President urged students to draw inspiration from his life and to use technology to bring about positive societal change.
