PM Narendra Modi Files Nomination Papers from Varanasi

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and four mandated proposers, filed his nomination papers from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat today. This marks a significant step in Modi’s electoral journey as he seeks re-election from the historic city.

Varanasi, a seat that PM Modi has won twice in the past, will once again play a pivotal role in the upcoming General Elections. Scheduled to go to polls in the final phase on June 1, Varanasi holds special significance for the Prime Minister, who has represented the constituency since 2014.

As the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from Varanasi, Narendra Modi remains a formidable contender in the electoral arena. Having secured victory in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha Polls, Modi has established a strong foothold in the constituency, earning the trust and support of its residents.

In the forthcoming elections, PM Modi will face competition from Uttar Pradesh Congress Chief Ajai Rai and Bahujan Samajwadi Party’s (BSP) Athar Ali Lari. However, Modi’s track record and popularity among the electorate position him as the frontrunner in the contest.

In the 2019 poll, PM Modi secured a resounding victory in Varanasi, winning the seat by nearly 4.8 lakh votes. This marked a significant increase from his winning margin of 3.72 lakh votes in the 2014 elections, underscoring the overwhelming support he enjoys among the electorate.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on his re-election campaign from Varanasi, all eyes are on the historic city, which is set to witness yet another electoral showdown. With his nomination filed and the stage set for the upcoming polls, Modi’s candidacy symbolizes continuity and leadership in the journey towards a prosperous and empowered India.
