Kazan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a significant meeting with Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, during the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan today. This high-level dialogue comes in the wake of a recent agreement aimed at complete disengagement and resolution of outstanding issues stemming from the 2020 border clashes between India and China.

During their discussions, the two leaders agreed that the Special Representatives on the India-China boundary question will convene at an early date. They also recognized the necessity of leveraging existing dialogue mechanisms at the level of Foreign Ministers and other officials to further stabilize and rebuild bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Modi and President Xi affirmed that fostering stable, predictable, and amicable relations between India and China—two neighboring giants and the largest nations in the world—is essential for regional and global peace and prosperity. They noted that enhanced cooperation will contribute significantly to a multi-polar Asia and a multi-polar world.
