Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually dedicated the Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) in Maharashtra to the nation, marking a significant step forward in India’s industrial growth. The event, held at Auric Hall, was attended by Maharashtra’s Governor Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and other key dignitaries, as the Prime Minister joined the proceedings via video conferencing.
The Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) is a landmark project developed under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Spanning a vast area of 7,855 acres, this transformative industrial hub is situated 20 kilometers south of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra. The BIA is expected to serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the Marathwada region, providing a substantial boost to manufacturing, infrastructure, and job creation.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of the Bidkin Industrial Area in driving India’s industrial revolution. “The BIA is not just an industrial hub, but a beacon of India’s vision for a self-reliant and globally competitive manufacturing sector. It represents the synergy between innovation, infrastructure, and economic opportunity,” the Prime Minister said.
Atul Save, Maharashtra’s Minister of Housing and OBC Welfare, and Dr. Bhagwat Karad, Rajya Sabha MP, were present at the Auric Hall event alongside local dignitaries and industrial leaders. The attendees echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiment, highlighting the transformative impact that the BIA is expected to have on the local and national economy.
The Bidkin Industrial Area is a key component of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects designed to enhance industrial growth across key regions. The area is strategically positioned to attract both domestic and foreign investments, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure, a robust logistics network, and proximity to key markets.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde praised the project as a game-changer for Maharashtra, noting that the BIA would bring thousands of jobs and investment opportunities to the region. “This project marks the beginning of a new chapter for Marathwada, creating a foundation for long-term economic growth and making Maharashtra a leading industrial destination,” said Shinde.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan emphasized the importance of such projects in fulfilling the aspirations of India’s industrial policy and reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting further development in the region.
The Bidkin Industrial Area is expected to attract investments in sectors such as electronics, automobile manufacturing, engineering, and logistics, paving the way for Marathwada’s transformation into a key industrial hub. It is anticipated that the BIA will generate thousands of new jobs and create a ripple effect in the local economy through the development of ancillary industries and infrastructure.
