Bhubaneswar: In a captivating display of cultural vibrancy and women empowerment, the Odisha tableau participated in the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade at Kartavyapath in New Delhi.
The tableau, a splendid manifestation of Odisha’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship, highlighted the essence of women empowerment, focusing on the heritage crafts village of Raghurajpur in Puri district.
Measuring an impressive 45 feet in length, 14 feet in width, and 16 feet in height, the grand tableau emerged from Rashtriya Rangshala Camp at 10:00 pm on Monday, making its majestic journey towards the Parliament building.
Rolling onto the road at 1:30 am today, the tableau held its place as the fifth entry in the procession, following the rehearsal parade of the women contingents.
The tableau featured women artisans from Odisha skillfully demonstrating the preparation of appliqué and Pattachitra. Meanwhile, danseuses from Lakhya Kalabikas Kendra of Gopalpur in Balasore adorned both sides of the tableau, enchanting onlookers with their graceful Sambaluri dance.
The tableau’s creation began on January 7 under the supervision of Imagery, a Bhubaneswar-based organization, after receiving approval from the central government. The construction process was carried out under the direct oversight of the Information and Public Relations department, ensuring a seamless representation of Odisha’s cultural tapestry on the national stage.
