Odisha Organizes Skill Upgradation Program for Jala Sathis to Enhance Urban Water Management

Bhubaneswar: A two-day Skill Upgradation Programme for Jala Sathis, organized by the Odisha Urban Academy with technical support from the Urban Management Centre, aimed to empower water service workers with advanced skills and knowledge to improve water management across urban areas in the state. The program, which trained over 800 Jala Sathis, focuses on enhancing operational efficiency and sustainable water service delivery.

Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, interacted with Jala Sathi trainees during the event, praising their critical role in community-based water management. She emphasized the importance of continuous skill enhancement to meet the growing challenges of urban water governance. “Jala Sathis are the bridge between the administration and the community. By equipping them with the right skills, we ensure a robust water management system that is both efficient and sustainable,” said Smt. Padhee.

The program covers a range of essential skills, including technical operations, water testing, customer engagement, and financial management, ensuring Jala Sathis are well-prepared for the complexities of urban water service delivery.
