Bhubaneswar: In light of the impending Cyclone ‘Dana’ and the possibility of heavy rainfall, the Odisha government has rescheduled its annual terracotta exhibition, ‘Mruttika-2024’. Initially slated to begin on October 22, the event will now take place from October 25 to 30 at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar.
According to a release by the Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department, the exhibition, which was originally scheduled to coincide with the Deepavali Festival, was postponed due to the severe weather conditions expected across the state. The decision comes as a precautionary measure as Odisha prepares for Cyclone Dana.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Cyclone ‘Dana’ will make landfall between Puri and Sagar Island late on October 24 or early October 25, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. The cyclone is expected to hit the Odisha-West Bengal coastlines as a severe cyclonic storm, with wind speeds reaching 100-110 kmph, gusting up to 120 kmph.
