Bhubaneswar: In a moving demonstration of empathy and leadership, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the fifth session of the Chief Minister’s Public Grievance Hearing Program today, placing a special focus on the concerns of persons with disabilities (PwDs) and vulnerable citizens.
According to an official press release, upon arriving at the grievance hearing cell, CM Majhi immediately met with around 50 PwDs, personally listening to their concerns while standing, and instructed officials to take swift action. This heartfelt gesture resonated deeply with the PwDs, who expressed their gratitude for the Chief Minister’s humane and compassionate approach.
Throughout the session, CM Majhi sat alongside petitioners, attentively listening to their grievances and offering advice. He directed senior administrative officers to expedite resolutions to their problems, further solidifying his reputation as a leader of the people.
The grievance hearing program, which began on July 1, has now completed its fifth session. Each session allows up to 1,000 petitioners to register and meet with the Chief Minister and other attending ministers. The process has been made fully online, ensuring minimal wait times for the citizens.
One particularly emotional moment during the session involved Ketki Nanda, an elderly woman from Nayagarh district, who shared her story of being thrown out of her home by her son. Deeply moved by her plight, CM Majhi immediately directed the district police superintendent to ensure justice for her.
Two sisters, Banita and Amita Pradhan from Baramba in Cuttack, also came seeking assistance after their father passed away. Lacking the funds to perform his 10th-day death rituals, the sisters appealed to the Chief Minister, who instructed the District Collector to provide immediate financial assistance.
In another case, five women from families affected by the Puri Narendra pond firecracker accident sought help after losing their family’s breadwinners. CM Majhi directed the District Collector to rehabilitate the women and provide them with employment.
Other petitioners, such as Preeti Mohanty and Laxmipriya Nayak from Jatni, had their issues swiftly addressed, with the Chief Minister instructing officials to resolve their concerns without delay.
Ministers Mukesh Mahaling, Nityanand Gond, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, and Pradeep Bala Samanta were also present at the session, working alongside the Chief Minister to hear the grievances and ensure rapid responses from the administrative team.
CM Majhi concluded the session by reaffirming his commitment to addressing the grievances of the people, with many attendees leaving reassured and hopeful for a swift resolution to their problems.
