Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today honored the Indian Men’s Hockey team for their remarkable achievement in winning the historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. The felicitation ceremony took place at the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where the team was celebrated for their outstanding performance on the world stage.
The team received a rousing welcome upon their arrival at Biju Patnaik International Airport, with fans and officials gathering to greet the Olympians. During the event, the Chief Minister expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment and reiterated the state’s support for Indian hockey.
In recognition of their achievement, CM Majhi had earlier announced a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh for each player on the team and Rs 10 lakh for the supporting staff. Additionally, Odia hockey player Amit Rohidas was honored with a special cash prize of Rs 4 crore for his contribution to the team’s success.
“The victory of the Indian Men’s Hockey team at the Paris Olympics is a proud moment for the nation, and especially for Odisha, which has always been a strong supporter of hockey,” the Chief Minister said during the event, adding that the team’s hard work and dedication had brought immense pride to the country.
