Bhubaneswar, February 17, 2025: The Odisha government has allocated Rs. 9,985 crore for urban development in the Annual Budget 2025-26, focusing on infrastructure enhancement, sanitation, and smart city initiatives to improve the quality of life in urban areas.
Key Budgetary Allocations for Urban Development:
- Mukhyamantri Sahari Vikas Yojana: Rs. 1,100 crore for urban infrastructure and service delivery improvements.
- New City Development: Rs. 200 crore to support the expansion and modernization of urban centers.
- ULB Governance Strengthening: Rs. 150 crore for improving urban local body (ULB) administration.
- Mahanadi & Budhabalanga Waterfront Development: Rs. 150 crore for beautification and tourism promotion.
- Swachha Odisha Initiative:
- Rs. 161 crore for solid waste management grants to ULBs.
- Rs. 100 crore for liquid waste management programs.
- Storm Water Drainage: Rs. 300 crore for flood prevention and water drainage infrastructure.
- Sewerage & Drainage Projects: Rs. 340 crore for expanding sewage treatment networks.
- Odisha Metro Rail Transport (OMRT): Rs. 305 crore for metro connectivity and expansion.
- PM e-Bus Seva: Rs. 47 crore to boost sustainable public transportation.
- AAHAAR Scheme: Rs. 50 crore for subsidized meals for the urban poor.
