Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today appointed 376 individuals, including 85 homeopathic doctors, 239 radiographers, and 52 lecturers, in a Nijukti Mela held at Lok Seva Bhavan.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the event, congratulating the new appointees and urging them to serve with professionalism and integrity. He emphasized the importance of avoiding corruption and committed service to advancing transparency and efficiency in the state’s health and education sectors.
Highlighting Odisha’s performance in the recently published NITI Aayog health rankings, where the state ranked third among 28 states with a score of 40.19, Majhi acknowledged the need for significant improvement.
“We must move from being the third among states to ranking among the top ten in health services. This requires systemic changes and unwavering commitment from our workforce,” the Chief Minister remarked.
He encouraged the new recruits to actively contribute toward this goal and emphasized that the government is systematically addressing infrastructure and human resource gaps in the health sector.
Majhi outlined the state’s plans for strengthening healthcare, including:
- Establishing medical colleges and hospitals in all districts within the next five years.
- Recruitment of Pharmacy Officers for government hospitals.
- Upgrading 422 homeopathic and Ayurvedic hospitals into ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ under the National AYUSH Mission.
- Setting up three new 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals in Dhenkanal, Berhampur, and Balasore.
He also highlighted the role of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and the state government’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana in ensuring accessible and quality health services.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj reiterated the Chief Minister’s directive to accelerate recruitment processes, with Nijukti Melas now being held almost monthly.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg emphasized the role of women in the workforce, encouraging them to break barriers, enhance their skills, and contribute equally in all spheres of work.
Newly appointed doctors and lecturers shared their experiences, praising the government for a transparent and expedited recruitment process. They pledged to work with dedication and contribute to the state’s development.
With six recruitment drives held in the past six months and over 20,000 appointments planned, the Odisha government aims to bolster its workforce across key sectors, furthering its commitment to holistic development.
