New Delhi: Responding to feedback from candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the rescheduling of the UGC-NET exam 2024. Originally slated for June 16, the exam will now be conducted on June 18, as confirmed by University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar.
In a social media announcement on Monday, Jagadesh Kumar stated, “The National Testing Agency and UGC have decided to shift the UGC-NET from 16 June (Sunday) to 18 June 2024 (Tuesday) because of feedback received from candidates. NTA will conduct UGC-NET in OMR mode across India on a single day. NTA will soon issue a formal notification.”
The decision to reschedule the exam aims to accommodate concerns raised by candidates, ensuring a smoother and more convenient testing experience. The shift in dates provides candidates with additional preparation time and addresses logistical challenges that may have arisen from the original schedule.
The UGC-NET exam, which serves as a crucial benchmark for eligibility for assistant professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges, will continue to maintain its rigorous testing standards. Question papers will be available in both English and Hindi, except for the language papers.
Conducted exclusively in OMR-based mode, the exam will consist of two papers, each comprising objective type, multiple-choice questions. Each paper will span three hours, with no breaks between them, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of candidates’ knowledge and skills.
As the NTA prepares to issue a formal notification regarding the rescheduled exam date, candidates are advised to stay updated on the latest announcements and continue their exam preparation accordingly.
