Night Safari begins at Chandaka and Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance wildlife experiences, the Odisha Forest Department inaugurated a Night Safari or Nocturnal Natures Trail at Chandaka and Dampara wildlife sanctuary. The initiative kicked off at the Bharatpur section, welcoming school students on its inaugural day to provide them with a unique opportunity to observe the nocturnal behaviors of animals.

To facilitate this educational experience, the Forest Department arranged a fleet of at least 12 vehicles to transport school students to the forest. The Night Safari will be exclusively available for school students from 9:00 PM to 9:30 AM. This carefully planned schedule ensures minimal disturbance to the wildlife during their active night hours.

Day visitors to the sanctuary can also partake in the experience by visiting the two Nature Awareness Centers located at Bharatpur and Dampara, in addition to the Nature Camp. These centers serve as hubs for educational initiatives, enlightening visitors about the rich biodiversity of the region and the importance of its conservation.

The Night Safari is expected to offer a unique and immersive experience, fostering a deeper connection between visitors and the natural world while contributing to the overarching goal of promoting wildlife conservation and sustainable ecotourism in the region.
