New Delhi: Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth presided over a ceremonial flagging-in event today, celebrating the triumphant return of the NCC Girl and Boy cadets from their challenging expedition to Mt Kang Yatse-II in Ladakh.
Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Seth applauded the cadets for their resilience and teamwork throughout the expedition. “Despite facing challenging circumstances like adverse weather, heavy snowfall, and low temperatures, the NCC cadets exhibited exceptional courage and determination,” he remarked. He emphasized the expedition’s role in fostering values of leadership and camaraderie among the cadets, echoing the Prime Minister’s sentiments expressed during the NCC Rally in 2022.
The NCC Mountaineering Expedition team comprised 27 Girl and Boy Cadets, supported by 5 Officers and 17 Permanent Instructors Staff. They successfully summited Mt. Kang Yatse-II, standing at 6250 meters, on June 21, 2024. The cadets underwent rigorous training, acclimatization, and received medical support to combat the challenges posed by high altitude conditions.
“NCC’s emphasis on adventure activities such as mountaineering plays a pivotal role in nurturing resilience and teamwork among cadets,” said Sanjay Seth. “These experiences prepare them for future challenges, both personal and professional.”
