New Delhi: The third edition of the Naval Innovation and Indigenisation Organisation’s (NIIO) annual event, Swavlamban, was inaugurated by Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, at Exhibition Hall 14, Bharat Mandapam, on October 28, 2024. This year’s theme, “Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation,” reflects the Indian Navy’s commitment to fostering homegrown technological advancements.
The exhibition, open for public viewing on October 28 and 29, showcases an array of niche innovative technologies, concepts, and products developed by Indian defense startups and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It serves as a platform for innovators to present their cutting-edge solutions to national defense challenges.
On its inaugural day, the event featured an interactive outreach session that focused on discussing problem statements and challenges linked to the launch of the Defence Innovation Organisation’s ADITI 2.0 under the iDEX scheme. This initiative aims to connect ‘Fund Seekers’—startups and MSMEs—with ‘Fund Providers,’ including venture capitalists and incubators, fostering an environment conducive to innovation.
The exhibition is expected to draw wide participation from eminent dignitaries, members of the Defence Attaché Corps, personnel from the three Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), academia, and the general public. Such engagement is anticipated to enhance the spirit of innovation and reinforce a culture of creativity in addressing emerging national security challenges.
