New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has launched the eSankhyiki portal, a significant step towards enhancing data accessibility and user experience in line with global best practices. This new initiative, unveiled by Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission of India, on Statistics Day, aims to provide real-time data inputs for planners, policymakers, researchers, and the public.
The eSankhyiki portal features two main modules:
- Data Catalogue Module: This module centralizes the Ministry’s major data assets, facilitating easy access and searchability within datasets. It includes seven key data products like National Accounts Statistics and Consumer Price Index, offering over 2291 datasets with metadata and visualizations for user convenience.
- Macro Indicators Module: This section provides time series data of key macro indicators, allowing users to filter, visualize, and download data. It features four major MoSPI products, encompassing data from the last ten years and hosting over 1.7 million records.
The portal, accessible at eSankhyiki, aligns with the theme of this year’s Statistics Day, “Use of data for Decision making,” promoting evidence-based policy formulation. It also emphasizes reusability and impact creation through data analysis, with an additional access point via the MoSPI website.
