Ministry of Labour & Employment Signs MoU with Cygnus Ujala Group to Boost Healthcare Employment Opportunities via NCS

New Delhi: In a move to expand employment opportunities in the healthcare sector, the Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoL&E) and Cygnus Ujala Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. The MoU, signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and Secretary of MoL&E, Sumita Dawra, underscores a significant partnership aimed at enhancing job accessibility through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting, “The NCS portal is a crucial platform for young job seekers, offering access to diverse employment opportunities across sectors. Partnering with Ujala Cygnus opens doors for India’s youth in the healthcare industry, providing a pathway to promising careers in this vital field.”

This is the first direct association of a healthcare group with the NCS portal, which is expected to bring substantial healthcare job listings onto the platform, specifically benefiting job seekers from Tier 2 and 3 cities. This collaboration is part of a broader effort to boost employment accessibility in India, with two other recent partnerships established with Amazon and TMI Group and 11 more in the pipeline. These initiatives are expected to bring nearly 25 lakh vacancies to the NCS portal, significantly widening employment avenues for the nation’s youth.

Dr. Mandaviya announced that an upgraded version of the NCS portal is underway, incorporating advanced features such as Artificial Intelligence for a user-friendly interface catering to job seekers, employers, and other stakeholders. Highlighting the platform’s growth, he noted, “With over 35 lakh registered employers and more than 1.10 crore active job seekers as of October 31, 2024, the NCS portal continues to support workforce mobilization effectively.” Since its inception, the NCS platform has facilitated over 3.46 crore vacancies, including 1.09 crore vacancies in the last fiscal year alone.

Key Features of the MoU with Cygnus Ujala Group

  • Job Posting & Hiring: Cygnus Ujala Group and its associated staffing agencies will post job vacancies on the NCS portal and conduct recruitment through the platform, enhancing healthcare employment access.
  • Job Fairs at Model Career Centers: The partnership includes organizing job fairs at Model Career Centers (MCCs), where job seekers will have the chance to interact with Cygnus’s recruitment teams.
  • Focus on Inclusivity: The MoU emphasizes promoting employment opportunities for women and other underrepresented groups, aiming to create an inclusive workforce within the healthcare sector.
  • Duration: The MoU will be in effect for an initial period of two years, with potential for extension based on its success.

With a dedicated section for healthcare jobs already on the NCS portal, the partnership with Cygnus Ujala Group will further amplify local employment opportunities, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. This initiative is expected to make healthcare roles more accessible to job seekers in these areas, bridging employment gaps and addressing healthcare workforce needs across India.

Dr. Mandaviya reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a robust employment ecosystem, stating, “These collaborations are paving the way for a robust employment landscape in India. We are dedicated to creating abundant job opportunities, and the NCS portal is at the forefront of this mission.”
