Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive forecast detailing various weather systems and warnings across different regions of the country.
Northeast India and East India:
A cyclonic circulation over northeast Bangladesh and a trough extending from Bihar to Nagaland are expected to bring widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura over the next five days.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from May 1st to 2nd, with isolated very heavy rainfall expected over Arunachal Pradesh on May 1st and 2nd, and over south Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 2nd.
Northwest India:
A fresh Western Disturbance is forecasted to affect northwest India from May 3rd, bringing scattered rainfall and thunderstorms to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh from May 3rd to 6th.
Isolated rainfall is expected over West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan from May 4th to 6th.
South India:
Rainfall activity is anticipated over south peninsular India from May 5th to 8th, with isolated to scattered rainfall expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala.
Heat Wave and Warm Night Warnings:
Heat wave conditions with maximum temperatures ranging from 44-47°C are likely to persist over Gangetic West Bengal, East Jharkhand, north Odisha, and Rayalaseema until May 3rd.
Severe heat wave conditions are expected in many places over Gangetic West Bengal, parts of Odisha, Bihar, and isolated pockets of other regions from May 1st to 2nd, gradually reducing thereafter.
Heat wave conditions are also forecasted for isolated pockets of Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat State, and Marathwada during various periods.
Warm night conditions are expected over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal during specific periods.
