Paris: India’s shooter, Manu Bhaker, has etched her name in the annals of Olympic history by clinching her second bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, marking a significant milestone for Indian sports. Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh landed India’s second medal of the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 as the shooting pair won bronze in the 10m mixed team air pistol event on Tuesday.
The journey was not easy. The Indian pair faced a tough start, trailing in the initial series. Demonstrating resilience, they bounced back to lead 4-2 after the third series and extended their lead to 8-2 after the fifth series. The South Korean team mounted a challenge, closing the gap to 6-10 after the eighth series, but Bhaker and Singh held their nerve to emerge victorious with 16-10 points.
At just 22 years old, Bhaker first captured a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. She then followed up this success with another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, partnering with Sarabjot Singh. This accomplishment makes Bhaker the first Indian athlete to secure two medals in a single Summer Olympic Games since independence.
