Lucknow: In a high-octane clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the Lucknow Super Giants emerged triumphant against the Punjab Kings, clinching a thrilling victory by 21 runs.
Making a remarkable debut, Mayank Yadav showcased his bowling prowess by claiming three crucial wickets, including a standout performance where he delivered the fastest ball of the season thus far, clocking in at a blistering 155.8 kilometers per hour. Yadav’s exceptional display played a pivotal role in steering the Lucknow Super Giants to victory.
Batting first after winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants set a formidable target of 199/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Quinton de Kock led the charge with a splendid knock of 54 runs, ably supported by Krunal Pandya (43*) and Nicholas Pooran (42), who contributed significantly to the team’s total.
In response, the Punjab Kings put up a valiant effort but fell short of the target, managing to score 175 runs. Despite a commendable 70-run innings by skipper Shikhar Dhawan, the Punjab Kings couldn’t overcome the spirited bowling attack of the Lucknow Super Giants.
Earlier, stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran won the toss for Lucknow Super Giants and elected to bat first, setting the stage for an enthralling encounter against the Punjab Kings in Lucknow.
