Bhubaneswar: Social activist and prominent Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader, Linkan Subudhi, announced her resignation from the party today, citing concerns over the treatment of women within the organization, just ahead of the forthcoming elections in 2024.
In a significant move, Subudhi tendered her resignation from the post of state general secretary of Biju Mahila Janata Dal and relinquished her primary membership of the BJD. The decision comes as a reflection of her deep-rooted concerns regarding the perceived disregard for dignity and respect towards women within the party.
In her resignation letter addressed to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, Subudhi expressed her disillusionment with the party’s commitment to women empowerment, stating, “I can no longer remain associated with a party where the empowerment of women remains merely a slogan. Women are treated as disposable commodities, and their dignity and respect are being compromised within the party.”
