Bhubaneswar: To provide sustainable income option to women, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Odisha under Gramodyog Vikash Yojana distributed 100 beehives with bee colonies, 100 iron stands, 10 toolkit sets and two food-grade stainless steel honey extractor to 10 members of a women SHG in Naktikani village under Golamunda Block in Kalahandi District.
The women had been trained by KVIC under beekeeping beginners training.
Appreciating the work of KVIC in providing sustainable livelihood option to poor people, Capt Dibya Shankar Mishra, Minister of Energy, Industries and MSME advised local government officials, BDO, district project manager, Odisha Livelihood Mission and NGOs to provide handholding support to the new beekeepers in the initial two years so that they can earn a sustainable income by selling honey and bee colonies.
