New Delhi: The Indian Navy’s swift response to a hijacked Bulgarian ship, the “Ruen,” has earned praise from the highest offices in Bulgaria and India. Following the successful rescue operation, both President Rumen Radev of Bulgaria and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India exchanged messages expressing gratitude and commitment to maritime security.
The rescue operation, which took place in the Indian Ocean region, resulted in the safe retrieval of the hijacked vessel and its crew, including seven Bulgarian nationals. This prompt and effective action by the Indian Navy underscored India’s dedication to safeguarding the freedom of navigation and combating piracy and terrorism in the crucial maritime routes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to express his appreciation for President Rumen Radev’s acknowledgment. In his post, PM Modi stated, “Appreciate your message President of Republic of Bulgaria. We are happy that 7 Bulgarian nationals are safe and will be returning home soon. India is committed to protecting freedom of navigation and combating piracy and terrorism in the Indian Ocean region.”
