New Delhi: The Indian Navy has taken delivery of its third 25T Bollard Pull (BP) Tug, named Bajrang, in the presence of Rear Admiral DK Goswami, ASD (Mbi). This addition is a significant achievement under the “Make in India” initiative.
Constructed by M/s Shoft Shipyard Pvt Ltd (SSPL), an MSME, the contract for the delivery of three such tugs aligns with the Government of India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. Built under the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) classification rules, these tugs enhance the Navy’s operational capabilities.
Bajrang and its sister tugs will assist naval ships and submarines in berthing, un-berthing, turning, and maneuvering in confined waters. Additionally, they are equipped to provide firefighting support to ships both alongside and at anchorage and can conduct limited search and rescue operations.
