India to Establish National Research Foundation to Transform Research and Development

New Delhi: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today highlighted India’s imminent establishment of the National Research Foundation (Anusadhan NRF), a groundbreaking initiative poised to revolutionize the country’s research and development landscape. Speaking during a meeting with Dr. Sethuraman Panchnathan, Director of the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Minister underscored NRF’s pivotal role in integrating public and private sectors, including academia and industry.

Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized that India possesses abundant scientific talent, but lacks a conducive environment to foster comprehensive development in science and technology. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for creating this enabling environment, which has propelled India to the forefront of global scientific advancements.

Highlighting the government’s initiatives, Dr. Singh outlined efforts such as the formulation of the National Geospatial Policy and the relaxation of drone regulations to bolster the participation of private sector entities. He emphasized NRF’s mission to enhance research and development capabilities, fostering collaborations that harness the strengths of both public and private sectors, and facilitating multinational partnerships to drive world-class technological innovations.

Furthermore, Dr. Singh noted the significant strides in India’s space sector, particularly with the participation of space startups contributing to technological innovation. He emphasized India’s progress in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and quantum technologies, asserting India’s competitive position globally in these fields.

Dr. Jitendra Singh articulated his vision for India’s research endeavors under PM Modi’s guidance, envisioning India’s ascent in global economic rankings from the 5th to the 4th largest economy and beyond. He discussed various avenues for international scientific collaborations aimed at advancing frontier technologies.

In response, Dr. Sethuraman Panchnathan expressed confidence in India’s transformative efforts in research and development, lauding the nation’s futuristic projects and technological advancements. He commended Dr. Jitendra Singh for his steadfast support in fostering international scientific collaborations and extended best wishes for India’s future endeavors in research and development.
