India Energy Week 2024 Unveils Promising Developments and Global Collaborations

Goa: Hardeep Singh Puri, the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, expressed confidence in India’s positive growth in the energy sector and announced the eagerly anticipated 2nd Edition of India Energy Week (IEW) during a media briefing. The event is scheduled to take place in Goa from February 6th to 9th, 2024.

Key Highlights of IEW 2024:

  1. Global Participation: IEW 2024 is set to host 17 Energy ministers from different countries, attracting over 35,000 attendees, and featuring more than 900 exhibitors. Six dedicated country pavilions for Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, UK, and USA will provide a unique international perspective.
  2. Make in India Pavilion: The event will include a special Make in India Pavilion with over 300 exhibitors, showcasing innovative solutions led by Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the energy sector. This platform aims to demonstrate the capabilities of domestic and international participants.
  3. Scaling Up: Compared to the inaugural edition, IEW 2024 has seen substantial growth, with an expected 30% increase in the number of exhibitors, a 25% expansion in exhibition area, and a remarkable 46% rise in revenue from exhibition.
  4. Private Sector Enthusiasm: Private sponsorship has witnessed an 81% increase in total revenue from private firms. The number of private sponsors has grown by 44%, resulting in more than three times the private sponsorship revenue compared to the previous year.
  5. Extended Duration and Sessions: Responding to the success of the 1st edition, IEW 2024 will extend to four days with a 44% increase in sessions. The event will include 46 strategic sessions and 46 technical sessions, more than double the technical sessions in IEW 2023.
  6. Technical Innovation: The technical sessions will showcase cutting-edge research, with the number of submission papers doubling from 1000 in IEW 2023 to 2000 in IEW 2024. Four new technical categories have been added, aligning with domestic priorities.
  7. Avinya, Startup Challenge: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has organized Avinya, an energy startup challenge. After a rigorous selection process, five startups have been chosen to exhibit their innovative solutions at IEW’24, providing them mentorship opportunities by industry leaders.
  8. Global Collaborations: In line with G20 priorities, IEW 2024 will host various side events covering themes like Global South Cooperation, Carbon Capture and Utilization, and a roundtable with Oil & Gas CEOs. Increased focus across the energy value chain will include sessions on Biofuels, Hydrogen, and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS).

Minister Puri emphasized the importance of biofuels and green hydrogen in the context of the country’s economic growth. As India aims to become a 5 trillion economy by the end of the fiscal year 2025, IEW 2024 serves as a crucial platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and showcasing advancements in sustainable energy solutions.
