New Delhi: In a spectacular tribute to the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) 92nd anniversary, a 7,000-kilometer-long car rally named ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ is set to be organized, traveling from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will give a ceremonial send-off to the rally at the National War Memorial, New Delhi, on October 1, 2024. The rally will be formally flagged off from Thoise Air Force Station, one of the highest-altitude airbases in the world, on October 8, 2024, and will conclude at Tawang on October 29, 2024.
Organized by the IAF in collaboration with the veterans of the Uttarakhand War Memorial, the rally aims to celebrate the IAF’s glorious history, honor the valor of air warriors in various wars and rescue operations, and inspire the youth to join the defense forces. Over 52 air warriors, including women officers, will participate in the rally, driving across rugged terrain and diverse landscapes, with former Air Force Chiefs joining different legs of the journey.
The event will feature 16 halts along the route, during which air warriors will engage with students at various colleges and universities, sharing stories of bravery, patriotism, and life in the Air Force. The rally, coordinated by the IAF’s Adventure Cell, is expected to evoke a sense of pride and awareness about the IAF’s crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s skies.
