New Delhi: The High-Level Committee (HLC) on One Nation One Election, led by Chairman Shri Ram Nath Kovind, continued its engagement with State Election Commissioners (SEC) to gather insights and perspectives on the feasibility of holding simultaneous elections across the country. The esteemed committee members, Shri N K Singh and Shri Sanjay Kothari, joined the discussions along with Dr. Rajiv Mani, Law Secretary.
During the recent meetings, the HLC engaged with Shri U.P.S Madan, State Election Commissioner of Maharashtra, and Dr. B. Basavaraaju, State Election Commissioner of Karnataka, who was accompanied by Ms. Honamba S., Secretary to the State Election Commission.
Both State Election Commissioners shared their valuable perspectives on the challenges and considerations involved in conducting simultaneous elections, emphasizing the importance of addressing various issues to synchronize elections for local bodies with State Assemblies and the Lok Sabha.
The discussions highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach to ensure the successful implementation of One Nation One Election, taking into account the intricacies of local elections.
