Los Angeles: In a resounding victory for Indian music, the fusion band ‘Shakti,’ led by Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain, clinched the prestigious Grammy Award for ‘Best Global Music Album’ on Monday, honoring their latest masterpiece, ‘This Moment.’

During the acceptance speech, Mahadevan expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you…Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to.” The heartfelt dedication resonated with the audience, resulting in a thunderous cheer.

Released on June 30 last year, the award-winning album ‘This Moment’ boasts eight captivating tracks crafted by the musical talents of John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist).
