New Delhi: The Union Ministry of New & Renewable Energy spearheaded a day-long workshop on “Quality Control in Green Hydrogen: Standards & Testing Infrastructure” at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, signaling a significant stride towards fostering a sustainable energy future. The workshop, aimed at deliberating actions to establish a standardized ecosystem for Green Hydrogen production processes, convened stakeholders from various sectors on May 8, 2024.
Key discussions revolved around the imperative need to set clear quality standards for Green Hydrogen production and the establishment of a network of testing facilities to ensure adherence to these standards. Additionally, strategies for promoting Ease of Doing Business in the clean energy sector to expedite the transition to sustainable energy sources were also discussed in detail.
A pivotal moment during the workshop was the launch of a dedicated portal for the National Green Hydrogen Mission, providing a comprehensive platform for disseminating information about the mission and showcasing the steps taken to develop the green hydrogen ecosystem in India. The portal, inaugurated jointly by Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, and Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Bhupinder S. Bhalla, aims to serve as a centralized hub for stakeholders to access critical information and resources pertaining to the mission’s objectives and progress.
The workshop saw active participation from approximately 300 stakeholders representing ministries, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), government agencies, industry players, associations, research institutes, laboratories, and academia. Their collective expertise and insights underscored the collaborative efforts required to drive innovation and accelerate the adoption of green hydrogen as a sustainable energy solution in India.
