Floodlight Glitch Halts India-England ODI at Barabati Stadium

Cuttack: The second ODI between India and England at Barabati Stadium came to an abrupt halt when a floodlight malfunction plunged a section of the field into darkness. The interruption occurred in the 7th over of India’s chase, with the team comfortably placed at 48 for no loss.

The issue arose at 6.1 overs, leaving players and spectators confused as one of the floodlight towers suddenly shut down. Initially, emergency backup lighting flickered on, but the stadium lights required for play failed to restore fully. The umpires had no choice but to suspend play, sending the players off the field while stadium officials scrambled to resolve the issue.

The delay left the packed crowd restless, while broadcasters and cricket fans worldwide waited anxiously for updates. Engineers worked to fix the problem as discussions continued about the feasibility of resuming play under proper lighting conditions.
