Demographic Breakdown

The demographic distribution of the new registrations reveals key insights into the workforce. Notably, nearly half of the new employees, approximately 10.05 lakh (48.83%), are from the age group of up to 25 years, signifying strong engagement with the younger workforce.

The gender-wise analysis further underscores the inclusivity of the scheme. In September 2024, 3.91 lakh female members enrolled under the ESI Scheme, marking a significant contribution to the social security framework for women workers. Additionally, the data also shows the registration of 64 transgender employees, emphasizing ESIC’s commitment to providing benefits to every section of society.

Expanding Coverage and Inclusion

The inclusion of new establishments and the rise in registrations of young, female, and transgender employees point to the growing success of the ESI Scheme in offering social security benefits across different demographics. This is in line with the government’s broader objective to enhance worker welfare and ensure that all employees have access to essential social security benefits.

As the scheme continues to expand, these figures reflect the ongoing efforts to improve the living standards of India’s workforce and integrate more individuals into the protective framework of social security.
