Early Adjournment Marks Conclusion of 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly Session

Bhubaneswar: The 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly concluded two days ahead of schedule as the last session was adjourned on Friday. Government Chief Whip Prashanta Muduli proposed a motion to adjourn the House sine die for the remaining period of the session.

While the BJP members sought an opportunity to speak on the motion, the Speaker did not permit them, leading to a walk-out in protest by the BJP members. Subsequently, Speaker Pramila Mallik adjourned the House sine die.

Originally scheduled to conclude on February 13, the budget session of the Assembly began on February 5 with plans to transact business over seven working days. On Thursday, Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha presented a Vote on Account of Rs 1.18 lakh crore for the first four months of the financial year 2024-25, and the Appropriation Bill associated with it was passed on Friday.

As a customary conclusion, members of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly gathered for a group photo on the last day of the session. Legislators from various political parties participated in this symbolic photo session, capturing the unity and collaboration experienced during the session.
