CRUT Dismisses Two Mo Bus Staff for Intoxication on Duty, Suspends Two Others for Indiscipline

Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) authority, responsible for the Mo Bus service in Odisha, has taken swift action against two of its employees after they were found intoxicated on duty. A driver and a conductor were terminated following a surprise check by the CRUT enforcement team, which found both employees under the influence of alcohol during working hours.

The incident has raised concerns over passenger safety and adherence to safety protocols within the Mo Bus service. CRUT stated that the employees were dismissed for breaching essential safety protocols, with a recommendation to suspend the driver’s license for six months.

In a related disciplinary measure, CRUT has also suspended another driver and conductor for two months due to indiscipline while on duty. This action underscores CRUT’s commitment to maintaining high safety standards and enforcing strict discipline among staff.

“These violations endanger passenger safety and go against the core principles of CRUT, which is dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation,” said a statement from CRUT. The agency also announced plans to bolster safety measures across its operations, including the implementation of random alcohol testing and enhanced driver training programs.

The CRUT’s swift response sends a strong message on the importance of safety and discipline in public transportation, ensuring that Mo Bus passengers can continue to rely on the service for secure and dependable travel.
