New Delhi: Coal India Limited (CIL) has formalized a strategic collaboration with the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Mumbai and Sambalpur in a landmark move towards enhancing multimodal connectivity infrastructure for coal transportation. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today signifies a pivotal step aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021.
The collaborative effort aims to leverage the synergy between industry expertise and academic excellence, fostering innovation and efficiency in logistic operations. The MoU, inked by Shri Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel) of MCL, on behalf of Coal India, and Prof Manoj K Tiwari, Director, IIM-Mumbai, and Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director, IIM-Sambalpur, solidifies a partnership that holds promise for transformative growth and sustainability in the coal transportation sector.
The signing ceremony, held in the presence of dignitaries such as Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri PM Prasad, Chairman, Coal India, and Shri Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), marked a significant moment in the realm of academia-industry collaborations.
As part of the collaborative initiative, a one-year Post Graduate Programme in “Logistics and Operations Excellence through Digitisation” (PGP-Ex) is set to be conducted exclusively for the executives of Coal India, currently serving in MCL and other subsidiaries. This program is designed to equip executives with cutting-edge knowledge and skills in the realm of logistics, embracing digital advancements to enhance operational efficiency.
The partnership between Coal India Limited and the esteemed IIMs not only underscores the commitment towards the vision of PM Gati Shakti but also reflects a shared commitment to foster innovation, skill development, and sustainable practices in the coal transportation domain.
