Bhubaneswar: The Chief Minister’s grievance cell will remain closed on July 8 (Monday) due to a public holiday for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. The General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued a notification confirming the closure.
The Odisha government has declared July 8 as a public holiday in observance of the significant festival. The Rath Yatra, which draws thousands of devotees, is one of the most important events in the state’s cultural and religious calendar.
In a related development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revived public grievance hearings on Monday after a 16-year hiatus. The revival of this initiative marks a significant step towards addressing the concerns of the citizens directly.
During the session, Chief Minister Charan Majhi personally listened to the grievances of the public and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials for prompt resolution. The response from the public was overwhelming, with over 5,000 people visiting the grievance cell. On the first day, 1,540 grievances were registered, highlighting the need for such a platform for direct interaction between the government and the citizens.
