Ceremonial Change-over of Army Guard Battalion at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi:  In a ceremonial spectacle at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, presided over the change-over of the Army Guard Battalion. The 6th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment, having completed its tenure as the Ceremonial Army Guard Battalion, gracefully handed over the charge to the 1st Battalion of 5th Gorkha Rifles.

President Murmu commended the officers and soldiers of the 6th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment for upholding the highest standards of military traditions and fulfilling their duties with unwavering dedication during their tenure at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She extended a warm welcome to the incoming 1st Battalion of 5th Gorkha Rifles, expressing confidence that they would continue the legacy of excellence during their time at Rashtrapati Bhavan, drawing from their illustrious history spanning 166 years.

The change-over ceremony marks a significant event in the rotation of Infantry units performing as the Ceremonial Army Guard at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The Army Guard Battalion assumes responsibilities for ceremonial duties at various important events, including Guard of Honours for dignitaries, the Republic Day Parade, Independence Day Parade, and the Beating the Retreat Ceremony. Additionally, the battalion will carry out ceremonial guard duties at Rashtrapati Bhavan throughout its tenure.
