New Delhi: As part of the Karmayogi Saptaah/National Learning Week, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has embarked on a nationwide Behavioral Sensitization program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of its workforce. Chairman of CBIC, Ravi Aggarwal, inaugurated the initiative, marking its launch across all 32 CBIC zones with an initial rollout of 52 training batches.
The Behavioral Sensitization program, a key step in CBIC’s commitment to continuous professional development, will train approximately 35,000 officials, including Inspectors, Superintendents, Assistant Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners. The program has been developed in collaboration with an external knowledge partner to ensure its design and implementation are both comprehensive and impactful.
Focusing on improving behavioral skills and fostering sensitivity, the initiative aims to cultivate a workforce that is more responsive, empathetic, and effective in public interactions and service delivery. The training is a part of CBIC’s broader efforts to align with the Karmayogi initiative’s goals of promoting a people-centric governance model.
The involvement of all CBIC zones, along with the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN) and Zonal Training Institutes (ZTIs), is pivotal to the program’s success. This collaboration ensures that the training is implemented uniformly across the country, improving governance at all levels.
“This Behavioral Sensitization program will not only enhance the professional capabilities of CBIC officials but also foster a culture of empathy and responsiveness in dealing with the public,” said Ravi Aggarwal during the launch event.
The program reinforces CBIC’s ongoing efforts to modernize its workforce and enhance public service delivery, supporting the government’s larger Karmayogi vision of a skilled and efficient civil service. By equipping its officials with the necessary skills, CBIC is ensuring more effective implementation of policies and better governance outcomes.
