Bhubaneswar: A bomb threat at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar triggered a high-alert situation on Thursday, leading to heightened security at both Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports. The call, later determined to be a hoax, prompted immediate action by airport authorities, who deployed bomb disposal squads and dog units to thoroughly inspect the premises.
Following the threat, security personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducted rigorous checks on baggage and passengers, ensuring all safety protocols were followed. While these measures caused minor delays, no risks were overlooked, and the safety of passengers and staff was prioritized.
Despite the hoax, airport authorities urged passengers to remain calm and cooperate with security procedures. No flights were disrupted, and normal operations resumed shortly after the threat was cleared. However, officials remain vigilant in light of recent bomb threats affecting airports across India, underscoring the need for continuous security measures.
Passengers are advised to follow official airport communications for real-time updates and further instructions.
