Bhubaneswar: BJP State Vice President Lekhasri Samantsinghar made a significant political shift by joining the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at the party’s headquarters, Sankha Bhawan, in Bhubaneswar. Her decision to switch parties came mere hours after tendering her resignation from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a ceremony attended by prominent BJD leaders including MP Manas Mangraj, Sasmit Patra, and former MP Rabindra Jena, Samantsinghar formally embraced the Naveen Patnaik-led party.
Expressing her gratitude towards the BJD leadership for welcoming her with open arms, Samantsinghar highlighted her decade-long association with the BJP, during which she had devoted her efforts to the party’s cause. However, citing her inability to garner the trust of the BJP leadership, she expressed her desire to contribute to the welfare of the people of Odisha through the BJD.
“After 10 years of dedicated service to the BJP, I have made the difficult decision to join the BJD. Despite my sincere efforts, I regret that I could not earn the confidence of the BJP leadership. My ambition to serve the people of Odisha motivates my decision to align with the BJD,” Samantsinghar remarked following her induction into the regional party.
She extended her gratitude to BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, as well as 5T chairman VK Pandian, for their warm reception.
Samantsinghar’s departure from the BJP was marked by the submission of her resignation letter to BJP State President Manmohan Samal earlier on Sunday. In her resignation letter, which she shared on her social media platform, she expressed her disappointment at not being able to secure the trust of the BJP leadership despite her sincere dedication to the party’s cause.
