Bihar’s Aadhaar Authentication Framework Wins SKOCH e-Governance Award

New Delhi: The Bihar Aadhaar Authentication Framework (BAAF), a transformative citizen-centric solution, has been awarded the prestigious SKOCH 2024 e-Governance Award in the Silver Category. The framework, implemented by Bihar’s Department of Information Technology, has revolutionized data security and service delivery by encrypting and authenticating Aadhaar credentials for the state’s residents.

The award was received by Vivek Kumar Nirala, Project Lead of Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation (BELTRON), and Prabhat Kumar, Senior Consultant, DIT, Bihar, from Sameer Kochhar, Managing Director of SKOCH Group, at a ceremony held in New Delhi.

BAAF has played a pivotal role in Bihar’s digital transformation, with over 2.5 lakh Aadhaar authentication transactions processed daily. This seamless integration connects residents to essential services and benefits, demonstrating the platform’s efficiency and accessibility.

Central to BAAF’s success is the Bihar Aadhaar Vault, which enhances data security, ensures regulatory compliance, and efficiently manages Aadhaar numbers. Developed by CSM Tech, the platform adheres to UIDAI standards and specifications, providing robust security and transparency.

Since its inception, BAAF has facilitated over 620 million authentications across 13 departments and sub-AUAs (Aadhaar Authentication Agencies) over five years. This achievement underscores the framework’s scalability and its vital role in Bihar’s digital governance strategy.

By safeguarding sensitive data and promoting secure access to public services, BAAF has established a foundation of trust among citizens, setting a benchmark for innovation in the public sector.
