New Delhi: The Army Dental Centre of Research & Referral (ADC R&R) celebrated a significant milestone as it marked 25 years of establishment on May 1. To commemorate the occasion, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command, Lieutenant General MK Katiyar, visited the Dental Centre and unveiled a Special Postal Cover.
Joining him were Director General Dental Services Lt. Gen Vineet Sharma and former Commandants of the Centre, who graced the ceremony with their presence. Brigadier SS Chopra, Commandant ADC R&R, took the opportunity to highlight the achievements and initiatives of ADC R&R, which has evolved into a leading institution in dental education, research, and patient care.
ADC R&R stands as the largest dental establishment of the Armed Forces, providing postgraduate training in five specialties of dentistry: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Periodontics and Oral Implantology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, and Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics.
The dedicated dentists at ADC R&R have achieved remarkable feats in dentistry, performing various specialist procedures such as Cranioplasty and TMJ Arthroscopy, among others. They have also pioneered the use of Nitrous Oxide-Oxygen minimal sedation for anxiolysis and analgesia during oral surgical procedures, demonstrating a commitment to innovative and patient-centric care.
Furthermore, ADC R&R is at the forefront of technological advancements in dentistry, utilizing intraoral scanners for Computer-Aided Designing (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Prosthesis, and routinely employing Patient-Specific implants for maxillofacial defect rehabilitation. The institution’s library, equipped with RFID technology, offers extensive digital access to journals and books.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the prestigious “Major General RN Dogra Memorial Oration” was delivered by Major General GK Thapliyal (Retd), Vice Chancellor of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, on the theme “India that is Bharat.”
General Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Command, praised the commendable service provided by the dental centre and urged all ranks to continue delivering elite care to soldiers, their families, and veterans. He commended the staff of ADC R&R for their dedication to constant improvement in patient care facilities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professional zeal in their endeavors.
