Bhubaneswar: Taking a significant step to improve the healthcare system, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched Mukhyamantri Vayu Swasthya Seva (Air Health Services) at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Monday.
In the first phase the air health services have been launched for four districts Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Kalahandi. Similarly other districts will be covered under the programme in phases.
Under the initiative, specialists required for the treatment of critical patients admitted in various District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs) would be included from various medical colleges and corporate hospitals and would be flown to the DHHs for their treatment. If required, the patients would also be airlifted to various healthcare facilities in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
A team of doctors of the SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack has been formed for this purpose. Similarly a team of doctors of MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur, VIMSAR in Burla and other private hospitals empaneled under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) would be constituted.
