New Delhi: In a groundbreaking development, the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) under the Ministry of Defence and the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on January 10, 2024. The MOU aims to foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest, promote joint research endeavors, and enhance academic activities addressing multidisciplinary scientific and technological challenges.
The MOU signing ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Daljit Singh, Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), and Professor M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS. Both leaders affixed their signatures to the agreement, solidifying their commitment to explore joint research projects, engage in common educational activities, and establish a dynamic faculty exchange program.
The collaboration between AFMS and AIIMS seeks to leverage the collective expertise and resources of the two esteemed institutions. The faculties from both organizations will actively explore and utilize the available facilities in investigations, research initiatives, and patient care services.
One of the key components of this partnership is the faculty exchange program, facilitating the seamless movement of faculty members between the two institutions for research and training purposes. This initiative is expected to enhance cross-pollination of ideas, share best practices, and contribute to the overall growth and development of medical research and education.
To facilitate effective collaboration, a collaboration board consisting of five members from both AFMS and AIIMS has been constituted. The board will conduct monthly meetings to identify and pursue potential areas of collaboration, ensuring a regular exchange of ideas and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
The AFMS-AIIMS partnership is poised to make significant strides in advancing medical research, academic excellence, and healthcare delivery.
