Bhubaneswar: The 45th Foundation Day of the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) was celebrated today at Panthanivas in Bhubaneswar, highlighting the state’s growing prominence in the tourism sector. The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Women and Child Development, Mission Energy, and Tourism, Phamagi Parida, as the chief guest. In her address, Parida emphasized that OTDC has become a well-known brand, contributing significantly to Odisha’s economic growth through its tourism industry.
“Odisha has limitless opportunities in the field of tourism, and the state’s economic development is closely linked to this sector. By working together and providing delicious food, cleanliness, and modern facilities, we can make Odisha a tourism hub for the entire country,” said Parida, appealing to everyone to collaborate in promoting the state’s tourism potential.
Balbant Singh, Commissioner and Administrative Secretary of the Tourism Department, also praised OTDC’s efforts, stating that the Corporation has played a crucial role in establishing infrastructure at key tourist destinations. He reiterated the commitment to continuing high-quality services for tourists visiting Odisha.
As part of the celebrations, 14 OTDC units were recognized for their exceptional services to tourists. Puri Panthanivas received the award for the highest annual income, Gopalpur Panthanivas was named the best tourist-friendly unit, and Rourkela Panthanivas won the award for best environmental practices. Additionally, 22 meritorious employees from various OTDC departments, including hospitality, housekeeping, and engineering, were honored for their dedication and service.
Deputy CM also launched a bakery van on behalf of OTDC, aimed at enhancing the corporation’s hospitality services.
