Amit Shah Inaugurates Development Projects Worth ₹668 Crore, Interacts with Bru Reang Community in Tripura

Dhalai, Tripura: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹668 crore in Dhalai, Tripura. As part of his visit, Shah interacted with members of the Bru Reang community at the Haduklau Para Bru Settlement Colony and visited their homes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to their welfare.

The event was attended by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and Director General of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).

Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah highlighted the efforts of the Modi government in settling 38,000 people from the Bru Reang community who had lived in difficult conditions for over 25 years. He noted that the previous governments failed to address their struggles, while the current administration implemented a ₹900 crore plan to resettle them across 11 villages equipped with essential amenities such as electricity, drinking water, health centers, and schools.

Shah added that the community now has access to ration cards, health cards, and voter registration. Families have been provided with 1,200 square feet plots and financial assistance of ₹5,000 per month for two years to ensure a stable livelihood.

Shah outlined significant progress in Tripura under the Modi government:

  • Water Supply: Access to tap water increased from 2.5% to 85% of households.
  • Free Ration Scheme: Over 82% of Tripura’s population now receives 5 kg of rice for free.
  • Healthcare: Up to ₹5 lakh in healthcare expenses are covered for 80% of residents.
  • Education: Enrollment has surged from 67% to 99.5%, with the dropout rate reduced to below 3%.
  • Infrastructure: Roads, electricity, and toilets have reached every household, and investments are pouring into the state.

Shah emphasized that the Modi government has restored peace in Tripura through agreements with rebel groups and the Bru Reang community. He affirmed that the state is now on a development trajectory marked by harmony and progress.

As part of the day’s events, Shah laid the foundation stone for the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) in Agartala, a ₹120 crore project aimed at enhancing security in the northeastern region. Spread over 9.57 acres, the institute will train over 6,000 personnel annually from the Northeast and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Equipped with advanced classrooms, simulation labs, and IT data centers, the institute will focus on modern policing skills and research into critical security issues such as counter-terrorism, border management, and human trafficking.
