Amit Shah Inaugurates Cyber Security Operations Centre at Assam Rifles Headquarters

Shillong: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, inaugurated the state-of-the-art Cyber Security Operations Centre at the Assam Rifles Headquarters in Laitkor, Shillong, today. In his address, Shri Amit Shah highlighted the significant strides Bharat is making in digitalization under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized the government’s commitment to establishing a cyber-secure society, ensuring internet security for every citizen, and making the prevention of cyber crimes a top priority.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Assam Rifles in modernizing its operations, the Union Home Minister commended the establishment of the Cyber Security Operations Centre. He explained that the center would enhance the Cyber Security posture of the Force by conducting real-time monitoring of the network, mitigating external threats, and preventing cyber violations in the Assam Rifles Wide Area Network (ARWAN). Equipped with state-of-the-art network and data monitoring devices, the center will provide round-the-clock services.

Shri Shah lauded the Assam Rifles for their concerted efforts in ensuring seamless and secure digital services within the force. This Cyber Security Operations Centre is the first of its kind among all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), signifying a proactive approach in addressing the growing threat of cyber attacks. The increased frequency of cyber attacks in contemporary times makes it imperative to safeguard networks from nefarious intruders, hacking, and other cyber incursions.

The inauguration marks a milestone in the integration and management of diverse aspects affiliated with operations within the Assam Rifles. Shri Amit Shah’s presence underscores the government’s commitment to fortifying India’s cyber defenses and ensuring the safety and security of digital networks across strategic sectors. The Cyber Security Operations Centre stands as a crucial step towards achieving these objectives and furthering the nation’s capabilities in the realm of cybersecurity.
