Amit Shah Flags Off ‘Run for Unity’ in New Delhi Ahead of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birth Anniversary

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today inaugurated the ‘Run for Unity’ event in New Delhi as part of the National Unity Day celebrations, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31. The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including Union Cabinet Ministers Manohar Lal Khattar, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena.

In his address, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized that the initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, aims to honor Sardar Patel’s legacy while reinforcing the commitment to the unity and integrity of the nation. “The ‘Run for Unity’ not only serves as a pledge for national unity but also reflects our dedication to the service of Mother India,” he remarked.

Shah highlighted that the initiative symbolizes a collective commitment to building a developed India by 2047. He stated, “Today, India stands before the world as a flourishing, developing, and strong nation, a feat made possible by the unification of over 550 princely states, thanks to Sardar Patel’s strong will and decisive leadership.”

Reflecting on Patel’s significant contributions, Shah lamented that the leader had been overlooked for years, even denied the Bharat Ratna award. However, he noted that Prime Minister Modi has honored Patel’s memory by erecting the world’s tallest statue in Kevadia, Gujarat. “Sardar Patel’s vision and ideas are now being realized under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi,” he said.

Amit Shah called upon the citizens to take a pledge during the ‘Run for Unity’ to strengthen India’s unity and work toward realizing the dream of a fully developed nation by 2047, asserting that Patel’s ideals will serve as a guiding light for the younger generation.
