
Paris: Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat faced a setback in his pursuit of Olympic glory as he lost to Japan’s Higuchi Rei in the semi-final of the men’s freestyle 57kg category at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Sehrawat, who had impressed earlier in the competition, was defeated 0-10 by the top-seeded Japanese wrestler.
The loss sends Sehrawat to the Bronze medal match, where he will face Darian Cruz of Puerto Rico. The match is scheduled for tomorrow, offering Sehrawat a chance to still bring home a medal for India.
Earlier in the day, Sehrawat showcased his dominance by winning his quarter-final bout 12-0 against Zelimkhan Abakarov, securing his place in the semi-final. Despite the loss, Indian fans will be eagerly watching as Sehrawat competes for the Bronze, hoping to see him add to India’s Olympic medal tally.
